The season finale of the Noteworthy Classical Concerts Series ends with a soprano performance from Nadya Blanchette accompanied by the Bergmann Piano Duo. From performing at the Cirque du Soleil to various opera stages and concert halls, this versatile soprano will interpret some the most memorable tunes of Broadway with music by Cole Porter, Steven Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, Oscar Hammerstein and George Gershwin.
About Nadya Blanchette
Praised for her vibrant and compelling performances, Nadya Blanchette leads an international career singing for prestigious events and music festivals in Canada and worldwide.
Nadya is a guest soloist with prominent Canadian ensembles, including Vancouver Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, I Musici, and Orchestre métropolitain and the Vancouver Island Symphony. She performs throughout Europe as a soloist with choirs from Germany, Romania, France, Canada, and on the stages of Cirque du Soleil and Formula One shows. Nadya is sought after as a vocalist for Canadian embassy galas, performances for royalty overseas. She sings in South Africa for the PGA’s President’s Cup golf tournament.
A versatile performer, Nadya Blanchette’s achievements include media, film and teaching contributions. She created seven original shows performed here and internationally and released four recordings, aired on CBC/Radio-Canada. She nurtures a keen interest in repertoire ranging from the symphonic masterpieces to chamber music, cabaret, new music and everything in between. One of her favourite pursuits is creating projects with her fellow artists.
About The Bergman Piano Duo
The Bergmann Piano Duo’s dynamic and energetic performances of uniquely eclectic programmes have inspired audiences for more than two decades. Their recitals and concerts with orchestra have taken them to many parts of the world from the United States to Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece and Canada. The duo has appeared at international festivals including: The San Francisco International Music Festival, MusicFest Vancouver, the celebrated Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, the Banff Arts Festival, the Royal Bank Calgary International Organ Festival and Competition, the International Two Piano Symposium and Schubertiade, Miami, the Tage für Neue Musik, Darmstadt, the Braunschweiger Kammermusik Podium and at EXPO 2000 in Hannover.
The duo studied with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany and with Jean-Eudes Vaillancourt at the Université de Montréal. They received first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy, and were Laureates of the 4th Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition.
