BRIAN WISMATH: With a rich choral background, Brian Wismath has served as director of the University of Victoria Chamber Singers and Tucson Masterworks Chorale, associate conductor of Orpheus Choir of Toronto and Chorus Niagara, and assistant conductor of S:t Jacobs Ungdomskör (Stockholm, Sweden), Ontario Youth Choir and Opera in Concert Chorus (Ontario, Canada). He has prepared choruses for Nathan Brock, Robert Cooper, Laurence Cummings, Steven Devine, Tania Miller, Michelle Mourre, Joey Pietraroia, and Timothy Vernon.
A passionate advocate for the performance of new music, Mr. Wismath has commissioned and premiered numerous works by Kathleen Allan, Ivo Antognini, David Archer, Liova Bueno, Steve Dobrogosz, Jeff Enns, Peter Fischer, Bo Hansson, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen, Alan Hovhaness, David Lang, Ivan Moody, Edward Moroney, Fernando Moruja, Per Nørgård, Ib Nørholm, Nicholas Piper, Sarah Quartel, Tarik O’Regan, Toivo Tulev, Michael Waldenby, and many others.
