A former police officer and secondary school teacher\, James is the creator of the Truth in Truth and Reconciliation Board Game (published by Medicine Wheel Publishing) and the writer and illustrator of DeD-C-Comics. SUMMARY:Artist Meet & Greet: Adin Teufel
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an artist meet & greet with Adin Teufel\, showcasing the newest exhibition: Animus.  \nAs a self-taught artist and one who is easily distracted\, Adin feels he lied his way to get where he is now. Inspired by Jung\, Joseph Campbell & Stéphane Blanquette\, art has always given Adin something to focus on. His truth is that everything has a consciousness\, and what seems material is actually mental \nAdin tries to tell stories in a single image\, juxtaposing organic patterns while incorporating mixed feelings and emotions. Each idea is a spirit child\, caringly worked until they tell him they’re big enough to be out in the world on their own. \nEveryone has characteristics of classic monster archetypes. Often\, it is healing to paint out negative feelings. Adin’s life becomes the subject of his paintings. Myths and monsters\, plants and animals. \nEarthy\, primitive\, and organic.

SUMMARY:All Our Relations: Portraits from the Elder's Gathering Walk & Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join Craig Richards for a tour of this spectacular collection and hear the stories behind the portraits. The Walk & Talk will run for approximately two hours in the Art Gallery on the 3rd floor (CPAC lobby). \nFor the past 19 years\, Indigenous Elders have gathered in the shadow of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain\, near the banks of the Bow River\, in Banff National Park.  Elders\, from First Nations and Métis communities on both sides of the Rocky Mountains\, come from seven major language groups\, from families with stories told through the generations of using and sharing this valley\, the rivers\, mountains\, buffalo\, and salmon. The Elders meet\, family stories are shared\, traditional medicines are exchanged. The gatherings provide hope and direction for restoring culture\, language\, and community health\, now and into the future. \nOver the years\, youth have been invited to participate and have brought additional perspectives to the conversations. This has also been an opportunity for the Elders to pass on their knowledge. These gatherings have become a spiritual experience that bonds participants and unifies their voice as brothers and sisters.
