SUMMARY:Cabaret: Qairo
DESCRIPTION:Qairo is a fiery and dynamic ensemble that combines the emotional charged vocals and pulsing rhythms of flamenco dance with the infectious melodies and ear-popping tonalities of the Mediterranean diaspora. The seven person ensemble’s tight-knit and eclectic members hail from France\, Spain\, Canada and Turkey to create unique blend of world music. \n\nFrom Spain to Turkey to India (with stops along the way)\, Qairo is music for dancing — no matter where you’re from. It’s Turkish micro-tones played on an Indian bansuri flute\, original flamenco verses “sung” by a clarinet\, Balkan rhythms punctuated by Andalucian guitar\, and flamenco footwork pounded out like improvised jazz. Qairo is guitar\, oud\, clarinet\, bansuri\, saxophone\, cajon\, electric bass\, cante (flamenco song) and baile (flamenco dance) acting like they belong on stage together — and pulling it off. \n\n\n\nCPAC Cabaret performances feature up-close and intimate concerts with cabaret-style seating onstage. Ticket availability per show is limited.

SUMMARY:Cabaret: Raine Hamilton - Cancelled
DESCRIPTION:Raine is part prairie songstress\, part storyweaver; each song has a story\, delivered between songs with humour and grace. \n\nRaine invites deep love of the violin into the singer-songwriter genre\, writing for violin and voice\, as well as for guitar and voice. Joined by cello and upright bass\, expect string arrangements that push and pull\, that move as they console. A classical violinist and musicologist by training\, Raine and their string trio offer string-quartet-like arrangements of Raine’s original songs. They call this chamber-folk\, a hybrid of the classical tradition of string quartet chamber music\, with the singer songwriter folk that comes so organically to Raine. \n\n\n\nCPAC Cabaret performances feature up-close and intimate concerts with cabaret-style seating onstage. Ticket availability per show is limited.

SUMMARY:Ridge - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Seniors $34 | Veteran Discount $25 |Grade 8–12 Students $5 \nThis performance of Ridge has been cancelled. Patrons who have purchased tickets will be contacted by the Ticket Centre for refunds.  \nOften called the “battle that made Canada\,” Vimy Ridge resulted in over 10\,000 Canadian casualties. Through direct storytelling\, theatre\, and live music from Brenden McLeod and the band The Fugitives\, Ridge examines misconceptions and varying perspectives around the battle\, while drawing parallels to other formative events in our nation’s past. \n  \n\n \nFeaturing inventive musical interpretations of WWI soldier songs throughout\, Ridge probes difficult yet necessary questions about how and why we grieve. A vivid\, kinetic ride through history\, as well as an intimate\, personal examination of our connection to the past\, Ridge is a visceral work that passionately argues against the exploitation of young lives.
